Doctors on placement: a scheme that gives young doctors an opportunity to practice their profession.
Every year, the Ministry of Health, under the leadership of Dr. Austin Demby, sends 60 to 65 young medical doctors on a one year rural posting. The scheme provides a platform for these young doctors to practice their profession and to understand the social and cultural nuances that exist across rural Sierra Leone. Right now, about 60 are currently doing their posting in different locations around the country. This followed another batch of 60 who recently completed their placement. This short video highlights the benefits of this scheme and the value the Ministry of Health finds in it.
