The Global Mercy, the world’s largest civilian hospital ship, has proudly docked at the QE-II quay in Freetown. This monumental event is a beacon of hope and healing for thousands, with already 5,000 patients registered to receive vital healthcare services. Over the next ten months, 2,400 of these individuals are slated to benefit from complex surgeries aboard the ship.
The vessel’s presence will facilitate the training of Sierra Leone residents in surgical procedures and aid in the establishment of a Dental School. All these commendable initiatives align seamlessly with Minstry of Health’s vision for a healthier and improved Sierra Leone. The docking of the ship symbolises a promising step forward in realizing this vision and providing essential medical care to those in need.
